Social Media Policy

This Social Media Policy explains how Bernadette Counselling uses social media and the professional boundaries that apply to interactions with current and prospective clients.

1. Professional and Personal Accounts

I maintain both professional and personal social media accounts. If you use social media, you may come across one or more of my profiles.

My professional accounts may be used to share information about counselling, mental health, wellbeing, and practice updates. My personal accounts are intended solely for private use.

2. Interacting on Social Media

You are welcome to view or follow my professional social media pages.

Please be aware that any public interaction, including likes, comments, reactions or shares, may be visible to other users of the platform.

To protect your privacy, I recommend avoiding posting personal or confidential information in public comments.

3. Client Confidentiality

Protecting your confidentiality is a fundamental part of my counselling practice.

I will never identify you as a client on social media, nor will I acknowledge our therapeutic relationship publicly, even if you interact with my content.

I have friends, family members and professional colleagues who follow my accounts, and your privacy will always be respected.

4. Friend Requests and Connections

To maintain appropriate professional boundaries, I do not accept friend requests, connection requests or similar invitations from current or former clients on either my personal or professional social media accounts.

This policy is intended to protect the integrity of the therapeutic relationship and ensure your confidentiality.

5. Direct Messages

You may send general enquiries through social media; however, I do not provide counselling, crisis support or therapeutic advice through social media messaging.

If you wish to enquire about counselling sessions, appointments or other professional matters, please contact me using the email address, telephone number or contact form provided on this website.

6. Testimonials and Feedback

I may occasionally publish client feedback or testimonials.

Any testimonial will only be published with your explicit permission and will be anonymised unless you have specifically agreed otherwise in writing.

7. Contacting Me

If you need to contact me regarding counselling services, appointments or administrative matters, please use the official contact details provided on this website.

Social media should not be used for urgent matters or emergencies.

If you are experiencing a mental health crisis or believe that you or someone else is at immediate risk of harm, please contact your GP, your local emergency services, or the appropriate crisis support service in your area.

8. Questions

If you have any questions regarding this Social Media Policy, please feel free to contact me.
